An electric heating element works on the principal of conversion of just one type of energy into other. It converts electricity into heat energy and utilizes a principal of Joule heating effect. Ni-chrome 80/20 (alloy of 80% nickel in 20% chromium) is used in many of the electrical heating elements due to its high resistance.
